It’s a “Grand” reopening for the Emporium
WORLD BAZAAR – When some of the businesses on the same block as the Emporium closed their doors for the last time, it caused a great deal of concern for many of the local residents, shoppers and shop owners in and around World Bazaar. Rumors began spreading about the area’s ever-popular department store being next to close up shop.

All of the “going out of business” rumors were quickly put to rest, however, when Mickey Mouse, proprietor of the Emporium, made it publicly known that the store would not only stay open, it would be enlarged. With the help of his many friends, Mickey and crew began remodeling efforts to expand the shop’s walls into the spaces that used to be occupied by the recently vacated businesses. “When our renovation is complete,” the famous mouse announced, “I promise that the Emporium will be bigger, better and a lot more fun!”

On April 15, Mickey made good on his promise when he and Minnie Mouse officiated over the opening ceremonies of the newly refurbished establishment. “A lot of hard work went into making this store grander than before,” Mickey said as he held the open scissors to the ceremonial ribbon that ran across the store’s main doors. “And because of that,” he continued, “I hereby reopen this store with its new name…the Grand Emporium.” With those words Mickey cut the ribbon and officially welcomed guests inside.

As guests streamed into newly opened entrances they were met by the grandest of grand opening ceremonies. Mickey and Minnie Mouse took time to greet patrons that entered the store. Donald Duck conducted a brass band that played original compositions written especially for the occasion entitled You’re a Grand Ol’ Store and My Sweetheart and Me on a Grand Shopping Spree. Donald’s nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie offered free fresh-squeezed lemonade to each and every shopper while Chip ‘n Dale passed out free nuts and other snacks.

The store guests were also entertained by Goofy as he juggled merchandise, although some shoppers were not sure if he was actually juggling or just amazingly clumsy. Even Pluto put a smile on everyone’s face as he conducted tours of the store for all of the neighborhood pets.

When asked if he felt the grand opening was successful, Mickey said that he couldn’t have been happier. “This is swell,” he exclaimed. “The Grand Emporium is a grand addition to World Bazaar. My staff and I are going to work hard to make sure that our new store always provides selection and service that are nothing short of…grand!”
